Family Law Act Amendments Submission (January 2017)
In December 2016, the Australian Government sought submissions on an exposure draft of legislation amending the Family Law Act.
The legislation proposed some significant changes, including expanding state and territory local courts' jurisdiction to decide family law matters, criminalising breaches of personal protection injunctions, and expanding the ability of courts to summarily dismiss "unmeritorious" family law claims.
