SCALES Community Legal Centre
SCALES is a not-for-profit community legal centre providing free information, referrals, legal advice and advocacy to disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the Rockingham and Kwinana areas.
Our priority is to provide services to clients who would otherwise find it difficult or overwhelming to access justice and assert their rights without assistance, clients such as women experiencing domestic violence, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, members of the CALD community, or people with disabilities or mental health issues.
SCALES offers legal advice, information and referral, with programs such as our Specialist Domestic Violence Unit (DVU), a Student Clinic at our Rockingham offices, a Tenant Advice Service including a tenancy advocacy and court service, Human Rights Law Clinic at Murdoch University, and assistance at the Perth Family Relationships Centre.
We offer community legal education through our association with the Rockingham Magistrates Court (VRO respondent information sessions), and through our Older People's Peer Education Scheme (OPPES).
We also work on policy and law reform.
